AS REQUESTED I HAVE REPOSTED THIS ISSUE IN THIS SECTION

Hello,

please consider the following configurations to be added to the new version of phpvibe

Issue: Support for arabic language in the links (i.e., channel names with arabic characters do not display in the links) and permalinks

Suggested Solution: add an option to auto configure the permlinks for channels to be as numbers instead of names and numbers at the same time.

for example this is a link that has both channel number and channel name which is pretty long! http://domainname/channel/channelname/3/ as you can see number 3 is the channel number.

what is suggested for this is to eliminate the channel name and only leave the channel number, which may possibly overcome the issue with arabic channel names and it also provide a shorter link for other languages.

Regarding the video links i have noticed a dash in the link, http://domainname/video/310/-/, this dash was supposed to be the video name which is in this case written in arabic.

to provide a smooth looking link for the future, please use a youtube style links (i.e. http://domainname/watch?v=iccscUFY860 or http://domainname/video?id=iccscUFY860) for videos and similarly for music and pictures. this may also overcome the complex links to come in the future.

thank you very much, and please consider these suggestions as i'm really starting to like this script.

best regards

Hi,

for names which are usually stripped (not seen as valid characters) you can apply this patch http://www.phpvibe.com/forum/how-to/url-name/msg18841/#msg18841

For this :

(i.e. http://domainname/watch?v=iccscUFY860 or http://domainname/video?id=iccscUFY860)

It's impossible to do it with the current router, it's the same rewrite we use in our store (for example) and I am familiar with it.
But to add it to PHPVibe, would require severe changes, and not work as optional setup.
At this moment there are over 10.000 sites using PHPVibe out there, changing link format will make them loose a lot, so when it comes to links is pretty hard to change anything without making it an admin options.
Imagine clients with tens of millions of links on Google loosing all pages, it would be revolution.
I will try to make the links go without the name as an option in 4.0 (it's actually on the build list).
Happy with my help? Buy me a coffee.
