If you upgrade to 3.5 you can shut it down from the admin.
Else, under com/com_video.php the uploader has an list of allowed files, you need to modify there.

My bad, com_share.php , got stuck on com_video from an previous thread.

But, you should have allowed extensions in admin as well, sorry, tough they where added in 3.5, but i see them in 3.4 as well, so just remove the image extensions from the admin's list of allowed extensions.

See attachment, you just have to change ion configuration the list, no code alteration.
Did you went trough all the configuration options?

flv,mp4,mp3,avi,mpeg

I took off MPEG for the images, but the image function still appears, and I can still upload. I even tried uploading png and it worked when I did not even include it in my extensions.

You as an admin see them all the time.
Just regular users don't.
