depending on the slide, the content should go into tpl/{your theme}/home.php

I tried it but it takes a while for homepage to load unless @Mario adds one in new update I recommend you to wait

He won't, we had a slider once and 50% wanted it off, 50% wanted a different slider.
It's a to personal choice to build into the cms, this is why he removed long time ago.
