Is there a way to get the main container a bit smaller? (Where the video and images are been held)

Hi,  yes, those are css rules.

Depends on which display. See responsive.css and inspect element

is usually sized by the rules there.

I am trying to make the images container on desktop devices be about 728px max.. im not seeing where to do this.

It's hard to answer such a global question, you can setup any rule you want via css media queries, in responsive.css for example.
