I don't get what's the problem.

Simply drop copy.php onto tpl/main/ folder and then edit tpl.globals.php as instructed by the tutorial:

1.) Upload copy.php to the folder tpl/main/ (or your theme's custom folder if you use a custom theme).
2.) Edit the file tpl.globals.php and add the following at the top:

include_once(TPL.'/copy.php');

Now your tpl.globals.php's begining should look like this:

 //Add your filters and actions here
include_once(TPL.'/copy.php');

Then you change the footer text from the Settings -> Custom Branding.




Else, please explain in detail what is the issue, so I can help you.

since half of it is no longer commented (not sure why, but it should be in one line by default).
I guess this is your problem.
